We are fortunate at Kamelia Kids to have number of outdoor spaces which includes three Gardens that have direct access from the children’s rooms, with sheltered outdoor classrooms.
The Wildlife and Beach Garden, the Community Garden, the Sensory and Wellbeing Garden and the Mud Kitchen and Construction Area bring the outdoors into children’s daily lives. By using our outdoor play areas, it helps to support the children’s problem-solving skills, nurture their creativity, and provides opportunities for developing imagination, inventiveness, and resourcefulness.
Having daily adventures in the fresh air makes a huge contribution to the improvement of children’s health, their wellbeing, and their confidence.
Our Wildlife and Beach Garden allows the children to experience the natural world and all that the beach has to offer in an environment that encourages children’s curiosity in their exploration of the world.
Our Community Garden offers opportunities for all children to grow and harvest fruit and vegetables for their snacks. We grow herbs to stimulate sensory processing and other plants to attract butterflies and bees. This space also has an apple tree, silver birch tree and ‘Bugingham Palace’.
Our Sensory and Wellbeing Garden provides a special area dedicated to helping children with special needs and disabilities allowing them to freely explore and experience a range of tactile and fragrant plants to stimulate their sensory processing.
Our Mud Kitchen and Construction Area enables children to use their imagination to cook up some tasty mud treats! This was generously built by a previous parent with their nephew. The Construction Area provides a large space to develop their fine and gross motor skills, building and constructing a new nursery!
