Our Team

Our Team...

Research has shown the huge positive impacts of graduate leadership on areas of child development such as early literacy and social development. At Kamelia Kids we strive to have the best qualified staff and we do.  Our early year’s practitioners understand, value and support young children’s play in its various forms and how it is fundamental to the wellbeing, learning and development from babyhood and throughout their early years. We also know from our parents that our early years practitioners are effective in developing their children’s communication, language and literacy, reasoning, thinking and mathematical skills.  At Kamelia Kids our staff provide the warmth and love children need to develop emotionally alongside and as part of planned and spontaneous learning opportunities. Nursery Manager Rachel Martini - Bachelor of Arts Degree in Professional Learning and Development is responsible for the day to day management of the nursery and is responsible to the Trustees. Supporting Rachel, is Julia Godfrey Deputy Manager - Bachelor of Arts – Advanced Study on Early Years and Early Years Professional Status EYPS.

Our team are valued early years professionals and hold recognised National Occupational Standard (NOS) qualifications in Early Years Care and Education who have great enthusiasm and commitment towards their professional development. As a nursery we are committed to providing appropriate and reasonable opportunities and resources to enable the training and development of our staff to take place. By attending continuing professional development training we ensure that our team are in possession of all the latest ideas and initiatives, thereby giving your child the best experience possible.

A high priority is placed on children's safety and well-being and our staff have undertaken mandatory training in child protection, behaviour management and are trained in paediatric first aid. Staff are secure in their knowledge of the procedures to follow should they have concerns about a child's welfare.

Our highly experienced team provide a happy, fun loving and stimulating environment, encouraging children to learn through play and interaction, and supporting adult-led experiences where needed. Our team are all very experienced in their field helping each child to reach their full potential.  Parents are always welcome to drop into the nursery to discuss ideas, views or questions.

The nursery participates in the Government funded work-based training programme for people aged 16 and over and recruits apprentices. By working alongside our experienced staff they are able to gain knowledge and experience towards their Level 3 qualification in Early Years.

Rachel and her team have a responsibility to ensure that:
•the physical environment is safe, well organised and stimulating.
•all activities, resources and equipment are appropriate for the children's ages and stages of development.
•when appropriate, children are given opportunities to become involved in their own learning environment including the setting of rules and boundaries.
•each nursery offers an organised environment that provides plenty of well planned and age appropriate activities.
•when they are actively included in positive play with adults, children are less likely to adopt inappropriate behaviour.
•once expectations have been made clear, children receive a consistent approach from the staff.
Children develop and progress best in a safe and caring environment in which:
•they know what is expected of them and they are free to learn and play in an organised way where good behaviour is positively encouraged.
•opportunities for inappropriate behaviour are minimised.

All staff and trustees are vetted to ensure their suitability to be working with pre-school children. The vetting process includes obtaining references from previous employers or educational establishments, with a successful issue of an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The nursery is brilliant. It’s been an absolute godsend for our family

It’s been incredibly beneficial meeting other parents in the same boat. We’ve built really strong relationships here and feel much less isolated
Kate, Kamelia Kids parent
I love Kamelia Kids and all the staff in it. Having been in Worthing less than a year, I thought my little girls would struggle to settle, like she did at her last nursery but no…, from day one she has loved every bit which as a Mum is the number one thing. The staff are amazing and so experienced. Thank you to all the team
